What do scientists who descended into the ‘Well of Hell’ say

Numerous stories about the ‘Well of Hell’, a 30-meter-wide hole in the Al-Mahra desert, in Yemen, has been gaining the internet in recent years, saying that it has paranormal activities and that it exudes a mysterious smell. To clarify this mystery, a geology team from the German University of Technology in Oman descended its 112 meters.

They told AFP that ‘there were snakes, but they don’t bother them unless someone bothers them. There were dead birds, which creates some bad odors, but not an overpowering smell.’

Samples of water, stones, soil and dead animals were collected. Residents of the region avoid talking about the place, stating that it could bring them some kind of supernatural problem.
