In 2017 alone, more than 100 ships with bodies appeared on the coast of Japan. The initial suspicion? North Korean boats, with fishermen of an advanced age, ill-equipped and illegally fishing in international waters – even in Russia. With the extinction of species considered more valuable, such as the flying squid, fishermen need to go further and take a risk.
Often vessels with North Korean inscriptions appear with corpses without heads and with heads that are not always from the bodies of that boat.
According to a new study by the NGO Global Fishing Watch, the situation has been going on for at least a decade and shows signs that it will continue.
And these are not deserters, as South Korea is much closer than Japan.
